Ruben Rubinyan, the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament and the head of the Armenia-Georgia Friendship Group, welcomed a delegation chaired by Givi Mikanadze, the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of the Georgian Parliament, on March 28.
According to the press service of the Armenian legislative body, during the meeting, Vice-Speaker Rubinyan emphasized the strategic importance of Armenian-Georgian relations. He also highlighted the positive trends in inter-parliamentary cooperation, contributing to the effective functioning of friendship groups.
In turn, Givi Mikanadze emphasized the close ties between the two countries not only in the cultural-historical aspect but also in parliamentary structures.
Bilateral cooperation within inter-parliamentary organizations was also discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening peace in the region.
BMG reminds that in January 2024, Armenia and Georgia signed an agreement on strategic partnership.
The governments of the two countries expressed readiness to develop trade and economic relations. It was noted that trade relations between Georgia and Armenia are developing, and bilateral trade turnover exceeded $1 billion. According to Georgian authorities, last year, Georgia was also visited by around 1 million tourists from Armenia.
