On Thursday, April 11, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan informed journalists about Armenia and Georgia's agreement to restart the border delimitation process between the two countries.

According to the deputy minister, this process, which has been ongoing for over 30 years, must finally be completed, as both sides have expressed readiness to resume it.

Vahan Kostanyan explained that the countries have updated the compositions of the delimitation commissions, but actual meetings have not yet taken place as both countries continue preparatory work. However, he expressed hope for the prompt holding of meetings.

Emphasizing the importance of this step, the deputy minister underscored that the logic of border delimitation with neighbors comes into force in accordance with the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.

Additionally, Vahan Kostanyan noted that Yerevan and Tbilisi are also engaged in discussions on implementing joint infrastructure projects, deepening political interaction, and intensifying ties between the citizens of both countries.

BMG reported that the question of resuming the delimitation of the Armenian-Georgian border was discussed during Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's visit to Yerevan on March 25.

Earlier, it was announced that the authorities of Georgia and Armenia had agreed to accelerate the process of border delimitation between the two countries, which spans 224 km. The process of defining the border between Georgia and Armenia began with the dissolution of the USSR.
