On October 23 in Yerevan, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan held the first official meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ghana, Leslie Akua Opoku-Ware.
The meeting took place during a challenging period for bilateral economic relations: according to customs data, trade turnover between the two countries significantly declined in 2023—imports from Ghana fell by 38.8% to $606,700, with minimal export figures.
Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan also participated in the meeting, where the parties discussed ways to overcome the negative trend in trade relations. "Armenia places great importance on strengthening ties with African countries, and we see significant potential for cooperation with the Republic of Ghana," said Minister Papoyan, emphasizing the intention to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
The participants identified key areas for the development of economic cooperation, focusing particularly on trade diversification and enhancing ties in the agricultural sector.
