Armenia and Iran are discussing issues related to increasing the frequency of flights and improving connectivity between cities in the two countries.

In particular, this issue was discussed at a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Armen Simonyan, and the Iranian Ambassador to Yerevan.

According to the ministry's press service, representatives of the Iranian delegation expressed interest in deepening cooperation in the field of air transportation. "During the dialogue, issues related to increasing the frequency of flights and improving connectivity between cities in the two countries were discussed," the statement said.

It is reported that gratitude was also expressed for the effective bilateral cooperation. The main attention was paid to discussing the issue of abolishing road taxes for transit cargo transportation.

"The parties agreed to hold more detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest at upcoming meetings," the statement said.

BMG reminds that at the end of 2023, Yerevan and Tehran agreed to waive road tariffs for trucks. These tariffs are levied when crossing the border.

According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, in 2023, Armenia's trade turnover with Iran amounted to $692.5 million, decreasing by 2.5% compared to 2022.
