On August 29, 2024, the Armenian government took a significant step in advancing international relations by approving a bill to ratify an agreement with the United States on mutual assistance between customs authorities.
The document, signed in Yerevan on June 11 of this year, is set to become the foundation for enhancing collaboration between the customs services of the two countries.
The main objective of the agreement is to optimize and clarify procedures for information exchange and to provide mutual administrative support in the customs sector. This decision is particularly relevant, given the absence of a previous international document regulating such matters between Armenia and the U.S.
The new agreement is expected to address several issues related to data exchange and the handling of requests between the customs authorities of the two countries.
This should lead to more effective enforcement of customs regulations in Armenia and expedite responses to matters concerning the export and import of goods.
