By decree of the President of Armenia, Karen Grigoryan, the Armenian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, has also been appointed as the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. His residence will be in Abu Dhabi.
Following the establishment of diplomatic relations, Armenia has appointed its first ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in November 2023. Previously, Saudi Arabia had refused to establish diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the Karabakh conflict.
In April 2024, for the first time, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan visited Saudi Arabia. During the visit, the Armenian minister announced that Riyadh and Yerevan would develop a "roadmap" for establishing diplomatic relations.
