On September 24, during the UN General Assembly, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the talks, Mirzoyan highly appreciated Germany's support, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU, in advancing democratic reforms in Armenia. He emphasized that these efforts "bring Armenia closer to the European Union." Both sides reaffirmed that cooperation between Armenia and the EU is developing in various areas, reflected in a new partnership program.
The Armenian side also expressed its intention to explore further cooperation prospects with the EU, indicating the possibility of closer integration in the future.
Particular attention was given to regional security during the meeting. The ministers discussed the situation in the South Caucasus, focusing on the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mirzoyan expressed optimism about the possibility of signing a peace agreement, stressing Armenia’s readiness for this step.
Earlier, BMG reported that Armenia and the EU had announced the start of a dialogue on visa liberalization. The aim of this process is to support Armenia in establishing a visa-free regime for short-term travel to EU countries, while ensuring the necessary conditions for effectively managed mobility and security.
