Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, held a productive meeting with the Belgian ambassador, outlining plans to increase trade turnover and diversify exports.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Eric De Muynck, Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan discussed prospects for strengthening economic ties between the two countries. Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in the areas of technology, sustainable development, and innovation.
Gevorg Papoyan emphasized Armenia’s interest in increasing the export of agri-food products to Belgium. Priority products mentioned included wine, honey, brandy, beer, chocolate, and mineral water. The minister suggested that the Belgian side provide information on upcoming industry events in Belgium to promote Armenian products.
The meeting also covered the opportunities offered by Armenia’s free economic zones and issues related to economic diversification. Papoyan presented the Armenian government's initiative 'Crossroads of the World,' aimed at strengthening regional stability.
According to official statistics, trade turnover between Armenia and Belgium reached $175 million from January to August 2024, reflecting an 11.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
