Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, along with his deputy Arman Khojoyan, participated in the official events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the 45th World Congress of Vine and Wine in Dijon, France.
In his speech, Gevorg Papoyan emphasized the importance of OIV’s mission and Armenia’s readiness to collaborate with international partners to support the sustainable development of the global wine industry. He noted that wine is not just a beverage but a bridge that connects people, cultures, and economies.
Papoyan spoke about the ancient traditions and rich heritage of viticulture and winemaking in Armenia. He highlighted that Armenian winemaking, recognized by the government as a priority sector of the economy, is currently undergoing a revival. By blending millennia-old traditions with modern technologies, Armenia is producing high-quality wines that meet international standards.
The Armenian delegation also attended the official ceremony of the OIV headquarters' relocation to Dijon.
As part of the event, Gevorg Papoyan met with France’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Anne Genevard. The two sides discussed opportunities to deepen Armenian-French cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Additionally, the Armenian delegation held a series of productive meetings with partner ministers from other countries, discussing potential collaborations in agriculture and winemaking.
