On July 17, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan met with Caroline Geginat, Head of the Armenian Office of the World Bank, Tafadzwa Dube, Senior Specialist in Disaster Risk Management at the World Bank, and Nora Mirzoyan, Urban Planning Specialist.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the meeting focused on the creation of tourism clusters as part of the tourism infrastructure development program, the growth of the tourism sector in Armenia, as well as program reconstruction processes and financial components.
Minister Gevorg Papoyan emphasized that the development of tourism infrastructure is a priority for Armenia. All financial adjustments to the subprograms will be made in accordance with the volume of components, and planned changes will be implemented as smoothly as possible.
The program aims to stimulate industry development and increase the flow of tourists to Armenia.
Earlier the Armenian Tourism Committee has published statistics showing a decline in tourist visits to Armenia in June of this year. According to the report, 180,718 tourists visited Armenia in June, which is 9.3% lower compared to the 199,159 tourists during the same period last year.
Overall, in the first six months of 2024, 947,512 tourists visited the country, which is 5.8% lower than the same period last year, when more than 1,005,163 tourists visited Armenia.
