Each international tourist spends an average of $1,200 in Armenia, Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan said today speaking at a discussion on Armenia's 2022 state budget execution in parliament.
"We have to take into account that habits have also changed: many foreign tourists prefer renting houses, saving on hotels and spending their money on other things," he said.
Kerobyan stressed that the last time a similar study was conducted 10 years ago: at that time, one tourist spent about $800 in Armenia.
The minister pointed out that 630,000 tourists visited Armenia in the first four months of 2023, which is about 35% higher than in pre-pandemic 2019.
"This allows us to think that we will have a record number of foreign tourists this year if there are no serious obstacles," he noted, ARKA reports.
