Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, has outlined potential measures to simplify customs and transit procedures between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
During a briefing with journalists in Parliament on November 4, he explained that simplified procedures could include the pre-exchange of information about goods in transit.
Highlighting practical aspects of such cooperation, Badasyan pointed to Armenia’s successful collaboration with Georgia, where both countries exchange export data in advance, significantly streamlining the import process for each side. According to him, a similar system could be implemented in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
The tax committee head noted that potential solutions could vary and would be adapted to the specific circumstances.
Among possible mechanisms, he mentioned the pre-exchange of scanned images to minimize risks, along with other solutions based on modern digital platforms.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed a simplified transit route for Azerbaijan through Armenian territory to Nakhichevan. He presented this offer as part of Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” project at the BRICS summit in Kazan on October 24.
