The Armenian government plans to significantly increase spending on social benefits in 2025, according to the draft budget law presented by the ACSES analytical center.
A total of $468 million will be allocated for social welfare, representing 5.2 percent of the state budget’s total expenditures. This marks a 6 percent increase compared to the revised plan for 2024.
The largest portion of this sum, approximately $129 million or 28 percent of the total, will be directed toward pensions for old age, disability, and survivor benefits, covering 113,990 individuals.
A substantial amount of $59 million is set aside to improve the living standards of families. These funds will be distributed among 51,269 families.
Special attention is given to supporting families with young children. Around $77.5 million will be allocated for childcare benefits for children under the age of 2, benefiting 67,943 recipients.
The increase in social benefit spending in 2025 is primarily driven by greater financial support for families with three or more children, as well as higher old age, disability, and survivor benefits.
