On November 11, during an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Stenergard. The discussions included a private exchange between the ministers and an extended meeting in the format of a working lunch.
The ministers discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding the political dialogue between the two countries, with particular attention to areas of mutual interest.
“This is my third visit to Sweden but the first in a bilateral format,” Mirzoyan noted, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration based on democratic principles and shared values. He expressed that there is significant potential to expand partnerships both on a bilateral level and through cooperation with the EU.
The meeting also addressed issues of regional security and stability. The Armenian minister outlined his country’s vision for achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus, including the normalization of relations with neighboring countries. He informed his Swedish counterpart about progress in peace negotiations with Azerbaijan and ongoing border delimitation efforts based on the Alma-Ata Declaration.
Special attention was given to Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, which Mirzoyan highlighted as a means of enhancing regional connectivity through the unblocking of transportation infrastructure.
