The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia has verified that the quality of "Jermuk" mineral water meets international standards amid a lawsuit in Russia alleging poisoning.

According to Armenpress, the Armenian Ministry of Economy issued an official statement regarding the situation surrounding "Jermuk" mineral water. The statement emphasized that inspections conducted by the Food Safety Inspection Body have proven that the product fully complies with international standards and is safe for consumption.

The ministry's statement follows reports that the relatives of Russian businessman Oleg Gusov, who allegedly died from burns after consuming "Jermuk" mineral water, filed a lawsuit against "Jermuk Group" for 1.5 billion rubles. The plaintiffs claim that the bottle of mineral water contained acetic acid.

The ministry noted that filing a lawsuit against any company is a right of individuals or their successors, and it cannot comment on this legal action. However, ministry representatives underscored that the Food Safety Inspection Body has provided the Russian side with all necessary evidence of the product's quality, based on inspection results.

"The adequacy of the evidence provided by the Armenian side is confirmed by the fact that all previous restrictions imposed on Jermuk CJSC in Russia have been lifted. We are confident that a fair trial will once again confirm the company's innocence," the Ministry of Economy stated.

"Jermuk Group" plans to release a separate statement on the matter at a later date.
