Gov't Reestablishes Investment Agency Under Ministry of Economy After 9 Years

მარიამ ქვრივიშვილი

The Georgian government will restore the Investment Agency under the Ministry of Economy, nine years after it was dissolved. The announcement was made by Irakli Kobakhidze ahead of today’s cabinet session.

The original Georgian National Investment Agency was liquidated in June 2017 under the previous government led by Giorgi Kirikashvili, citing administrative cost reductions and bureaucratic streamlining. At the time, it was merged into the “Entrepreneurs’ Agency.”

Now, based on the “Enterprise Georgia” platform, the new Economic Development Corporation will include a dedicated Investment Agency, tasked with actively attracting new foreign investments to Georgia.
