Armenian Prime Minister Discusses Economic Cooperation with IMF Representative

On September 19, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in Armenia, Iva Petrova. This was reported by the Armenian government’s press service.

During the meeting, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with the IMF for the development and stability of the country’s economy. The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including Armenia's fiscal, monetary, and currency policies, as well as tax policy and administration.

Iva Petrova highlighted the importance of reforms in Armenia’s financial sector, improving the investment climate, and other areas crucial for sustaining economic activity in the country.

The Prime Minister stated that maintaining macroeconomic stability and ensuring long-term economic development are priorities for the Armenian government. He assured that steps and reforms in this direction would be carried out consistently.

Earlier, BMG reported that the IMF revised its GDP growth forecast for Armenia upwards – 6% by the end of 2024 (compared to the initially expected 5.0%) and 5.2% in 2025.

The economic growth projected in Armenia’s state budget for 2024 is 7%, with inflation set at 4% (±1.5%). Meanwhile, economic growth in the first half of 2024 reached 6.5%.
