According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the country’s domestic trade has shown significant growth. In the first eight months of this year, the turnover of domestic trade reached an impressive $9.98 billion, marking a 20.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
August 2024 saw particularly notable growth, with a turnover of $1.45 billion, a 14.9% increase compared to August 2023, and a 2.5% rise from July of this year.
Wholesale trade holds the leading position in the structure of domestic trade, accounting for 65.7% of the total volume. During the reporting period, the turnover of wholesale trade amounted to $6.56 billion, reflecting a 28.7% increase compared to the previous year.
Retail trade also demonstrated positive dynamics, with a turnover of $3.02 billion, representing 30.3% of the total volume and showing a growth of 9.4%. It is noteworthy that the majority of retail trade was concentrated in stores, which accounted for $2.53 billion, an 11.9% increase from last year.
However, not all sectors experienced growth. The automotive trade saw a decline of 7.8%, with a turnover of $394 million, representing 4% of the total domestic trade volume.
The retail sector showed mixed trends. While consumer goods stores and markets reported growth, agricultural product markets, kiosks, and other trade outlets recorded a slight decline.
