The State Revenue Committee of Armenia announced that as of October 16, the tariff quota for the import of electric vehicles with a zero customs duty rate has been exhausted.
Initially, a quota of 7,400 units was set for 2024. However, due to its rapid depletion, the Armenian government decided on October 10 to increase the quota by an additional 600 units. Between October 11 and 16, this additional quota was also fully utilized.
The State Revenue Committee also informed that for 2025, a zero customs duty rate will apply to the import of 8,000 electric vehicles.
To use the 2025 quota, it will be necessary to submit and register a customs declaration or a customs receipt order for the vehicle imported into Armenia starting January 1, 2025.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated that Armenia is one of the leading countries in creating favorable conditions for electric vehicle imports. However, he expressed concern about potential challenges in maintaining the preferential regime within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the long term.
These concerns stem from the fact that other EAEU member countries are planning to develop their own electric vehicle manufacturing industries, which could impact the current import policies in the region.
