The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia has conducted a large-scale operation targeting tax evasion, uncovering a shadow turnover of approximately $44.4 million (17.2 billion AMD).

According to the SRC’s press office, between July and September of this year, the committee carried out 97 investigative operations aimed at exposing tax violations. The inspections covered a wide range of businesses, including companies involved in the trade of construction materials, food products, clothing, furniture, household appliances, cosmetics, diesel fuel, as well as enterprises in the catering and hospitality sectors.

During the analysis of computers, server systems, and other accounting data storage devices, significant discrepancies were found between the actual turnover and the officially reported figures. The total amount of undeclared income subject to taxation was approximately $11.4 million (4.4 billion AMD).

As a result of the investigations, some of the identified violators have already compensated for the damage. Around $2.1 million (800 million AMD) has been returned to the state budget.

In cases where serious violations were detected, materials have been handed over to the Investigative Committee for the initiation of criminal proceedings. Efforts are ongoing to finalize the total amount of damage caused to the state, and measures are being taken to ensure full restitution.
