In the first quarter of 2024, a total of 52 billion drams (over $125 million) was withdrawn from the shadow economy, including 22 billion drams (over $55 million), which represent the damage inflicted on the state. This information was provided by Vahan Charkhifalakyan, the head of the Investigative and Operational Search Department of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, as reported by CivilNet.

He also noted that 13.3 billion drams ($33 million) have already been recovered, and the investigative committee has initiated 98 criminal proceedings on this basis.

In addition to this, other violations were recorded in the first quarter. Specifically, during this period, 126 cases of goods being supplied without documents, 120 cases of illegal entrepreneurship, and 62 cases of conducting licensed activities without the appropriate license were recorded, Charkhifalakyan reported.

In his opinion, the risks of tax evasion exist in various sectors of the economy, such as wholesale and retail trade, as well as the construction sector.
