A 2019 State Audit Office report on Georgian Post’s 2017 operations identified suspected conflicts of interest, questionable property transfers, procurement irregularities and financial management failures. The report was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.

Auditors questioned the transfer of real estate to the Georgian Lottery Company to settle a GEL 661,728 debt, noting that the same person headed both companies and that the lottery company had a private offshore shareholder. Other findings included potentially tailored tenders, GEL 42,403 in excess VAT payments, a GEL 18,991 inventory shortfall and more than GEL 6.6 million in bonuses paid without sufficient supporting documentation.

The report has resurfaced following an investigation into Georgian Post by the Finance Ministry’s Investigative Service. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said services previously outsourced to intermediaries had been brought back in-house. BM.GE has asked the Prosecutor’s Office what action was taken over the audit findings.

Levan Chikvaidze, who led Georgian Post from 2012, was dismissed in September 2025 and replaced by Giorgi Eradze.
