Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said reforms at Georgian Post will enable the company to post a profit this year for the first time. Services previously outsourced to intermediary companies have been brought back in-house, which the government estimates will generate an additional GEL 14.2 million in annual revenue.

Kobakhidze said staff optimization saved GEL 2.5 million, while restructuring loss-making service centers saved another GEL 1.1 million. Restoring the postal air terminal will generate an additional GEL 1.3 million, while agreements with international companies, including Turkish Airlines, and negotiations with other airlines are expected to add GEL 4.4 million.

The prime minister said services had previously been transferred to intermediary companies and have now been returned to Georgian Post. He also described the use of intermediaries as a potential “means of corruption,” saying relevant agencies should examine the matter.

According to Georgian Post’s latest audited financial report, the company posted an GEL 8.6 million loss in 2025, compared with a GEL 864,000 profit in 2024. Revenue fell 3.5% to GEL 82.3 million, while personnel costs rose to GEL 39.7 million. The company ended 2025 with GEL 92.7 million in assets, GEL 71.2 million in equity and GEL 21.4 million in liabilities.
