Vera Kobalia, Advisor to the Canadian government and former economy minister of Georgia declares that an aviation charity campaign has been launched to help Ukraine. As she notes, the most important thing now is to facilitate the movement of refugees from Ukraine, that’s why she has started negotiations with various airlines.
“I am an IDP and I know what that means. We wanted to make it easier for Ukrainian citizens who have crossed the Ukrainian border and are in different countries to move around both in Europe and in Georgia. Several airlines have already provided free and cheap air tickets, and negotiations are underway with other companies as well," Vera Kobalia said.
According to her, air company WizzAir has allocated 100 thousand air tickets to Europe only for Ukrainian citizens for free of charge, while tickets to Georgia and Dubai can be purchased for 30 EUR. Polish Airlines has also allocated 500 ticket codes for them, after the completion of which additional air tickets will be allocated.
"There can be some airlines that think it is a very favorable situation now to serve the Russian market and increase profits, but we must remember that the Ukrainians stood by us during the 2008 War and now we have to do the right thing," Vera Kobalia said.
According to her, the aviation charity campaign for Ukraine will continue for two months and if necessary, it will be extended further.
