Giorgi Dolidze, manager of Glarros OldTown Hotel declares, that the number of bookings has increased by 10% compared to the last year. As Dolidze told TV-program "Business Morning", the hotel's occupancy rate reached 85% during the past 2 months, and the increase is mainly due to travelers from China and neighboring countries.
"International visits to the country have definitely increased, this is probably tangible for all travel companies and accommodation facilities. As of the last 2 months, the occupancy rate in Tbilisi reached 85% in May and June. As for July, we expect 80%-load because the city is a transit destination in July-August. It means that tourists rarely stay in the city for more than 2 days, mostly they move to the sea or mountains.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, both the total reservations and the price index have increased by 10%. If the price stood at USD 120 last year, now it stands at USD 135. The number of European tourists has increased by 5% compared to the previous period. We also have tourists from China than India. Moreover, we also preserved tourists from "Traditional countries", including the Gulf countries, Israel, and Russia," Doldze said.
