In Brussels, a preliminary agreement has been reached on financial assistance to Armenia from the European Union Peace Fund. It is known that the EU intends to allocate 10 million euros to Yerevan. The funds are to be spent within 30 months.

Diplomatic documents obtained by the radio station "Svoboda" indicate that the specified amount is intended for the establishment of a field modular camp capable of accommodating one battalion. The camp will also be equipped with a medical center to provide medical assistance, along with corresponding services and facilities.

"The aim of this support is to contribute to enhancing the resistance and capacity of the Armenian armed forces to establish stability and protect the civilian population during crises and emergencies," the document notes.

The European Union Peace Fund was established in 2021 with the aim of providing financial support for the procurement of non-lethal weapons and tools to strengthen peace in various regions of the world, prevent conflicts, and enhance international security.

In the past, this fund has provided assistance to countries such as Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova, which have applied for membership in the European Union.

Armenia applied for assistance from this fund last year. In October of the previous year, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Yerevan, stated that he had raised this issue with the EU Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Peter Stano, the European Commission's spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, previously stated in an interview with "Svoboda" that the consensus of all member states is necessary to move forward on this issue. According to information from the radio station "Svoboda," this consensus has now been reached, and the project will be finally approved in the coming weeks.
