Oil shipments through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline declined by 9% year-on-year in January–May, totaling 10.5 million tons, according to Azerbaijani media outlet Report.
The pipeline’s throughput remains dominated by Azerbaijani crude, which accounted for 82% of total volumes, while the rest came from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Over the same period, Azerbaijani volumes fell by 10% annually, while shipments from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan dropped by 4%.
BTC primarily transports oil from Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields and condensate from the Shah Deniz field, alongside additional volumes from Central Asia. Major shareholders of the pipeline include bp (30.1%), SOCAR (32.97%), MOL, TPAO, Eni, TotalEnergies, Itochu, ONGC Videsh, ExxonMobil, and INPEX.
