Georgia imported 7,701 tons of butter worth $58.8 million in the first 11 months of the year. According to official statistics, the value of imports increased by 73.1%, while the volume rose by 41.7%, indicating a significant rise in both demand and prices.
The data shows that butter imports have become more expensive. Last year, Georgia paid an average of $6.2 per kilogram, while this year the average cost rose to $7.6 per kilogram over the same period. The import category includes natural butter, recombined butter, whey-based products, and products made from milk pastes.
France remains Georgia’s largest butter supplier, with imports totaling $19.7 million for 1,984 tons at an average price of $9.9 per kg. Paraguay ranks second, and its butter was significantly cheaper than French butter this year. Among Georgia’s import partners, the cheapest butter came from Iran at $5 per kg, while the most expensive came from Denmark, averaging $10.2 per kg.
Georgia’s Top 10 butter import sources include France, Paraguay, Iran, Uruguay, Finland, Ukraine, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands.
