Dairy product prices in Georgia have increased at varying rates over the past five years, according to Geostat’s average price calculator. Between July 2021 and July 2026, all five products reviewed recorded higher average prices, although some saw temporary declines in individual years.

Imeruli cheese recorded the largest increase, with the average price of 1 kg rising from GEL 11.68 in July 2021 to GEL 17.60 in July 2026 - a 50.7% increase. Sour cream followed, with its average price rising 32.6% over the period to GEL 11.56 per kg. Matsoni increased by 32.3%, from GEL 2.51 to GEL 3.32 per 0.5 kg, while cottage cheese rose 31.7%, from GEL 17.85 to GEL 23.51 per kg.

Factory-produced milk recorded the smallest increase among the products analyzed. Its average price rose from GEL 4.33 per kg in July 2021 to GEL 5.27 in July 2026, representing a 21.7% increase. The price declined in both 2024 and 2026, falling 2.1% and 2.6% year-on-year, respectively.

Overall, the data show that cheese prices have increased significantly faster than other major dairy products over the past five years. Despite some year-to-year declines, all products analyzed remained more expensive in July 2026 than they were in July 2021.
