New labeling requirements for milk-containing products will take effect in Georgia from January 1, 2027. Products made with non-dairy fats will be required to display a mandatory pictogram in the main visible area of the label.
The changes are set out in Government Resolution No. 429 amending the technical regulation on milk and dairy products. The pictogram must be clearly visible to consumers when purchasing the product.
Its design and specifications are defined by the regulation and cannot be altered. If packaging has several main visible areas, businesses must select the one most easily seen by consumers.
Products containing non-dairy fats must also be presented separately from milk and dairy products, allowing consumers to distinguish between the two categories more easily.
