China and Armenia prepare to launch direct flights and lift visa requirements

Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Fan Yong stated in an interview with local media that the two countries are on the verge of reaching an agreement to establish direct flights and mutually lift visa requirements.

He mentioned that active work is currently underway on these matters. Discussions took place a few days ago during the visit of the Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan to China.

The diplomat highlighted that these steps will significantly strengthen cooperation and ties between the two countries, making travel easier and promoting the development of tourism and business.

Earlier, BMG reported that according to the Statistical Committee, from January to April 2024, China ranked third in trade volume with Armenia, with a total of $1.03 billion. Trade with China increased by 61% in the first four months of 2024. Notably, exports from Armenia to China surged 4.4 times to $588 million, while imports decreased by 12% to $445 million.
