The contract for the construction of the 4.5-kilometer section of Stepantsminda-Larsi highway was signed, - according to the document published by the Roads Department of Georgia.
As of the report, the winner of the international tender is China Railway Tunnel Group Co., which will build the project for 212,548,323 GEL, the figure is 12.5 million GEL less than the estimated tender price. The same company performed the construction works of the 9-kilometer tunnel of Kvesheti-Kobi, which cost was 900 million GEL.
The Georgian government is planning to modernize the highway leading to the border of Russia - for this, in March 2024, the Roads Department announced a tender worth 225 million GEL. The two-lane road project will pass through the most difficult geographical area and will drastically reduce travel time. Its length will be 4.5 kilometers.
The previous tender for the project was published in June last year with an estimated cost of 246 million GEL, but it was canceled at the beginning of this year, after which the Roads Department published a revised tender.
