The Georgian Roads Department has hired Colliers Georgia – Valuation and Advisory to assess real estate and prepare a land acquisition plan for the construction of the new four-lane Natakhtari–Zhinvali highway. The service contract, signed on July 24, is valued at GEL 900,000.

The assessment will cover land plots and other properties located within the planned road corridor. The new highway project envisages the construction of a 27-kilometer, four-lane motorway connecting Natakhtari and Zhinvali and replacing the existing two-lane road with modern infrastructure.

The highway will pass through several settlements in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, including Tsitsamuri, Saguramo, Choporti, Tsitelsopeli, Aragvispiri, Bulachauri, Qubriantkari, and Zhinvali. The government approved the acquisition of land needed for the project on July 1, although the number of properties to be purchased and the total acquisition budget have not yet been disclosed.

The project includes the construction of 16 bridges, including two parallel bridges over the Aragvi River with a combined length of 991 meters. According to the design documents, vehicles will be able to travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h, allowing the full 27-kilometer section to be covered in around 15 minutes. The Infrastructure Ministry says the project is driven by rising domestic traffic and growing international freight.
