The first session of the Government Coordination Commission on Food Prices was held on Tuesday, with officials deciding to expand the commission’s mandate to include the monitoring of medicine and fuel prices as well, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani said following the meeting.
According to Zhorzholiani, a relevant working group in the Parliament of Georgia will study the issue in parallel with the commission’s activities.
“We believe the commission will complete its work by the end of April. At the same time, the issue will be examined in Parliament, and through coordinated efforts, we expect to achieve the desired results. We expect that price reductions will begin during the process. It is also crucial that we provide the public with detailed information on how prices are formed, where increases occur, and where those increases are unjustified and inconsistent with European practice,” Zhorzholiani stated.
