Georgia’s Construction Cost Index fell by 0.8% month-on-month in August 2026 but increased 3.4% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The residential construction index declined by 0.7% month-on-month and 0.6% year-on-year, while the non-residential segment fell by 4.7% monthly but rose by 4.6% annually. The civil engineering segment increased 0.6% month-on-month and 7% year-on-year.
The monthly decline was mainly driven by a 6.5% drop in the average monthly nominal wages of construction employees, contributing -1.42 percentage points to the overall index. Year-on-year growth was primarily driven by a 19.7% increase in transportation, fuel and electricity costs and a 0.8% rise in construction material prices.
Compared with February 2022, the Construction Cost Index was 29.2% higher in August 2026.
