Georgia is currently building 14 power transmission lines and four substations, Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said at an event marking Energy Workers’ Day.
According to Kvrivishvili, Georgia needs a power system capable of receiving, transmitting and safely managing larger volumes of electricity. She said this has prompted the government to launch a number of major infrastructure projects.
“Construction is underway on 14 power transmission lines and four substations, involving the development of more than 587 kilometers of transmission lines in total,” Kvrivishvili said.
She noted that while this part of the energy sector may be less visible to the public, it is crucial in determining how quickly and reliably the country’s overall electricity system can develop.
