Cooperative Housing for Affected Residents to Be Built on Virsaladze Street

The company JaoKeni Building, responsible for cooperative housing for affected residents, will now construct the building on Spiridon Virsaladze Street instead of the previously planned location near Makhata Mountain. This decision was announced by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during the municipal government meeting on March 25.

According to the mayor, the original site near Makhata Mountain presented certain challenges, prompting the search for an alternative location. The new site at Virsaladze Street N12 provides all necessary infrastructure and conditions for construction. The project will proceed under strictly defined timelines, and residents will receive their apartments in stages.

Kaladze emphasized that the city continues to address the needs of families still waiting for housing. “Providing apartments to residents affected by cooperative construction is a key priority for the Tbilisi City Hall. Since 2017, we have worked to deliver concrete results, ensuring affected families finally receive their legally recognized apartments,” he said.

The project is significant, as it will satisfy the housing needs of 158 affected families who had purchased apartments in the 1990s but were delayed due to halted construction. The mayor stressed that the decision protects both residents’ rights and municipal interests, with additional units available for future social projects.
