Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says he hopes construction companies will participate in the fourth tender for the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue after three previous tenders failed to attract any bidders.
Responding to a question from BM.GE, Kaladze said the main objective of the project is the comprehensive rehabilitation of the capital’s central avenue, including the renewal of underground utilities and road infrastructure.
“Our requirements are clear: full rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue, complete replacement and upgrading of underground communications, and modernization of road infrastructure, sidewalks, lighting systems, and urban amenities,” Kaladze stated. “We will announce the tender again and hope companies will be interested.”
The three tenders announced on April 28 failed because no companies submitted bids. The project was divided into three sections with a total estimated value of GEL 17 million. According to Tbilisi City Hall, a new tender is expected to be announced in the near future.
