ისლანდია

Georgia and Iceland signed an air traffic agreement in Reykjavik on February 26, the Civil Aviation Agency of Iceland reported.

The agreement, based on liberal principles, allows designated airlines to operate flights without restrictions on frequency, capacity, or destinations. The agreement will come into force once both parties complete their internal procedures.

Givi Davitashvili, Head of Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency, and Martin Eyjolfsson, Permanent Secretary of State of Iceland, signed the agreement, which is expected to attract airline interest and expand the flight network.

The agreement will also strengthen tourism, trade, and economic relations between Georgia and Iceland.

Both parties expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation in the aviation sector.

BM.GE was interested in the travel statistics between the two countries. According to the Tourism Agency, last year 405 citizens of Iceland visited Georgia, which was 6% more than the 2023 figure.
