The Armenian government has taken a step towards harmonizing tax legislation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). At the meeting on July 25, a proposal to sign a Protocol amending the EAEU Treaty of May 29, 2014, was approved.

The key innovation concerns establishing a unified procedure for collecting indirect taxes in the course of e-commerce transactions involving goods sold to individuals. This decision is part of a broader strategy to unify tax policy and administration within the EAEU.

The new protocol is intended to regulate relations related to the calculation and payment of VAT on goods sold to individuals through online stores within the EAEU. This is a significant step forward in creating a unified digital market within the union.

Experts note that this decision can significantly simplify cross-border e-commerce for businesses, as well as ensure fairer taxation and reduce opportunities for tax evasion.
