Turkish joint venture EYE (EmreRay + Yüksel + Erk) will build Tbilisi’s 7.5-kilometer Didube–Didi Digomi tram line and depot under a GEL 287.6 million contract. The company was selected after an international tender conducted under Asian Development Bank (ADB) procurement rules.
One of the key partners, EmreRay Enerji İnşaat, specializes in railway and tram infrastructure projects. According to the company’s portfolio, it has completed several major urban transport projects in Turkey, including the 7.3-kilometer Eminönü–Kabataş tram section in Istanbul, where it carried out track and overhead electrical system works.
EmreRay’s experience also includes the construction of a 17-kilometer tram line in Eskişehir and electrification works for the tram system in Antalya. The company’s bid for the Tbilisi project was significantly below the estimated budget, coming in around GEL 129 million lower than the initial GEL 416.6 million estimate.
The Tbilisi project will connect Didi Digomi’s 3rd and 4th districts with Didube metro station, include 11 stops and a tram depot, and be implemented under a Design-Build model. The contractor will have 36 months to complete the project, including 24 months of construction works.
