In January-March 2026 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 5.8 billion, 0.2 percent higher year-on-year, - according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The exports equaled 1.72 billion (23.4 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 4.1 billion (7.1 percent lower). The negative trade balance was USD 2 419.5 million in January-March 2026 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 41.2 percent.
In January-March 2026 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 365 million with 21.1 percent of total exports. The exports of petroleum and petroleum oils totaled USD 208 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 12.1 percent. The exports of precious metal ores and concentrates occupied the third place, standing at USD 169.9 million and constituting 9.9 percent of the total exports.
