Exports in March increased by USD 135 million (24%) compared to the same period last year, amounting to USD 697 million, according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
As for imports, they increased by USD 67 million, or 4%, to USD 1.59 billion.
In the first quarter, Georgia's total exports amounted to USD 1.72 billion (an increase of 23% compared to the previous year), and imports were USD 4.13 billion (a decrease of 7% compared to the previous year).
Geostat will publish detailed foreign trade data on April 20, which will reveal which goods increased in imports and exports over the past month.
