According to Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port is set to welcome its first vessel by 2029. She shared this vision during a panel discussion at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum: Georgia’s Infrastructure for Connected Future.
“Anaklia is not merely a port; it is a platform designed to provide services in a strategic direction. The necessary infrastructure will be developed near the seaport, with a focus on introducing innovations tailored to operational needs,” explained Ioseliani.
The deputy minister further elaborated that the project involves robust and durable infrastructure.
“We already have a clear understanding of the benefits this port will bring to Georgia. In the initial phase, around 300 jobs have been created, and we anticipate that this number will grow to approximately a thousand at the same stage,” Ioseliani added.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the Georgian government’s active commitment to investing in this initiative.
“Anaklia Port is just one of several projects through which Georgia is looking to the future,” she concluded.
