Georgia is actively working to bring new airlines into its aviation market, according to Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani. She made the statement in connection with the entry of a new European carrier into the country’s aviation sector.
Ioseliani said Dan Air becomes the 50th airline operating in Georgia’s aviation market, and the 17th European airline. She emphasized that the government is focused on diversifying the market and strengthening international connectivity.
According to her, the launch of the Bucharest route is also significant, as it becomes the 42nd destination linking Tbilisi with the European Union. She added that expanding air connectivity remains a strategic priority aimed at boosting tourism, economic ties, and Georgia’s visibility in European markets.
The Civil Aviation Agency granted Dan Air the necessary operating permit on June 9. The airline is set to begin flights between Bucharest and Tbilisi on July 1. In the first quarter of 2025, Georgia recorded 1,922 visits from Romania, up 30.5% year-on-year, while total visits from Romania reached 9,328 in 2025.
