on Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, handed over to the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, the report intended for the European Commission, which was prepared for the first time in accordance with the Copenhagen criteria within the framework of the enlargement package. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia disseminates information about this.

According to the agency, the report was approved on April 18, 2023, within the framework of the 66th session of the Commission for the Integration of Georgia into the European Union, which was chaired by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili.

The document includes 35 chapters and it describes the legislative, institutional and other activities carried out by Georgia in the last one year and the progress achieved by the state in this regard.

"It should be noted that the preparation of the report began at the end of February in accordance with the request of the European Commission, and the process was coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

All state agencies, as well as legislative bodies and judicial authorities were involved in the process.

Based on the mentioned report, the European Commission will evaluate Georgia according to the so-called thematic criteria of Copenhagen, which includes both political and economic and sectoral parts.

The evaluation report of the European Commission will be published in the fall of 2023, based on which, at the end of 2023, the European Council will discuss the issue of granting Georgia the status of a candidate country.

Along with the report, the EU ambassador was given a letter from the head of the foreign ministry to the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement issues, in which it is mentioned that the document prepared by Georgia within the framework of the enlargement package includes comprehensive information, including relevant statistical data in all directions," the information reads.
