Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will take part in the meeting of the so-called 3+3 regional platform in Tehran, scheduled for October 23. Mirzoyan will travel to Tehran at the invitation of the Iranian side, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

It said also that Mirzoyan will have separate meetings with some of his peers.

The idea to create a platform for cooperation between the six countries of the region - Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Georgia and Armenia (the so-called "platform of six" or "3+3" ) was proposed by the official Ankara right after the end of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh in the autumn of 2020.

The platform, which first held talks in 2021, were to include also Georgia, but Georgia has stated previously it did not plan to participate in the initiative and said on Sunday it will not be coming to Teheran.

The foreign ministers are expected to address issues of security, roads reopening and economy, ARKA reports.
