Foreign visitors’ cashless spending at hotels in Georgia’s Adjara region increased by 63% year-on-year in September, while restaurant spending fell by 2%, according to TBC Capital’s latest tourism sector review.
Hotel spending rose from GEL 754 in September 2025 to GEL 782 in September 2026. Restaurant spending declined from GEL 237 to GEL 179.
TBC Capital attributed the hotel growth mainly to an increase in transaction volumes, alongside a slight rise in average transaction value. Although restaurant transactions also increased, lower average spending per payment led to an overall decline in expenditure.
In Kakheti, non-resident spending increased in both categories. Cashless spending at hotels rose by 37%, from GEL 452 to GEL 509, while restaurant spending grew by 39%, from GEL 102 to GEL 105.
According to TBC Capital, the increases in Kakheti were driven by both more transactions and higher average spending per transaction. The growth in hotel expenditure may also reflect higher accommodation prices or longer stays.
