Four state clinics, in particular Tengiz Tsertsvadze Infectious and AIDS Center, National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, and Rukhi and Batumi Republic Hospitals, have received international accreditation from KTQ, Cooperation for Transparency and Quality in Hospitals, a German healthcare accreditation organization.
Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and his deputy Tea Giorgadze met KTQ Director Ronald Neubauer to speak about international standards in the health sector and express gratitude for prolific cooperation with the Georgian side. KTQ Representative in Georgia Teona Gorgadze attended the meeting.
The Health Minister highlighted that access to medical services and patient safety are among the government’s top priorities. He said that most clinics involved in state programs had acquired international accreditations.
Considering the challenges faced by some medical institutions in meeting the timeframe for geographic or profile access to emergency medical services for citizens, a grace period has been granted to enable them to comply with the necessary standards.
