The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) has established the fact of violation of the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights by “USA2GEORGIA” JSC through misleading and unfair commercial practices.
The investigation revealed that the company had advertised on LinkedIn that its parcel repackaging service could be activated at any time. However, this information was false. According to the company's trade policy, the service can only be activated before the parcel arrives at the seller's U.S. office.
The trader’s failure to deliver proper service was also confirmed. Specifically, consumers had activated the repackaging service in accordance with the trader’s policy. However, USA2GEORGIA failed to implement the service, resulting in consumers incurring higher transportation costs.
As a result, the Agency has ordered the trader to restore the consumers' violated rights and align its trade policy with the requirements of the relevant legal provisions within one month.
